Inner Child Retreat

January 17th & 18th

This retreat came into being from a discussion in class in which we discovered that many of us shared a history of abuse as children. The impact of abuse, the conclusions we come to regarding how the world works and our position within the world can limit our expression in many aspects of our lives. Some of us become stuck or frozen in this time, unable to take ourselves seriously or claim our own power. Others decide that we are somehow flawed, responsible for the calamity that befell us and undeserving of anything good or loving in our lives. This old tape, whatever it is, then robs us of our aliveness and our ability to stand vibrantly in our lives today. We are shadows, living lives below our highest version of ourselves.

This  retreat has felt quite important and yet also been quite an intimidating topic for me personally.  I am very aware of my limitations in this area. Yet I feel called to step into this space and so I have been waiting for some sense of what this retreat may be about. It is, not surprisingly, what all of my retreats are about, it is about loving self. In this case it is about loving that child who may still be hiding in the shadows and bringing the child into the world where her joy and aliveness can contribute to our lives today. It is not so much to revisit the pain of abuse as to discover the delightful child hiding behind that pain. Then with love, help her to find her voice and invite her into the life we are creating today.

Our inner children are a rich source of creativity and joy. To invite our inner child to join us in our adult personas is to invite magic into each day. This, then will be the intention of our retreat. To that end, we will have a drumming circle, compliments of Dave Betz who has one of the most wonderful spirits I know. We may also need crowns and tiaras and boas and silly girlie girlie make-up and great joy and much laughter. Bubbles, finger paints, paper to write letters to this marvelous child that is you, etc.  You get the idea. :)

Now the where is the Courtyard Marriott in Wood Dale...though they have no idea yet that we are coming...I will get that done later this week. The cost will be $150.00 for both days. The room rate at the Marriott had gone up to $99.00 the last time I checked. Please let me know if you are called to be at the retreat and also if you are called to participate as a healer. I feel that Sunday will include a ceremony of some type that will welcome our young selves into our adult lives and explain to them the wonders that are to come.

Hope to see you there if you are called to be there. Love you all!
